Darfur rebels attack peacekeepers

Rebel fighters in Darfur attacked an African Union peacekeeping force, killing at least ten soldiers, abducting as many as forty more, and seizing supplies including heavy weaponry.

Meanwhile, a delegation of “elders” including former South African President Nelson Mandela, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, and Nobel peace prize winner Desmond Tutu, arrived in Sudan for Darfur peace talks.
