George W. Bush presses for Middle East Talks

President George W. Bush has called for a high-level peace conference this fall with meetings involving U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, her Israeli and Palestinian counterparts, and leaders from several other Arab countries.

The move signals that the Bush administration will use its final year and a half in office to make a major push to bolster Mahmoud Abbas‘ Palestinian government and to foster peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
