Iraq Crisis Summit


Following the resignation of nearly every Sunni member of Iraq‘s cabinet, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki called for an emergency summit among Iraqi political leaders. Some regional leaders are already arriving in Baghdad and the summit could begin as early as today.

The Washington Post writes that the meeting could have important bearing on a mid-September 2007 report assessing the U.S. military surge, to be delivered in Washington by General David Petraeus.
